Work and Study in Canada

As an international student, you are eligible to work on both campus jobs and off-campus jobs but there are some eligibility requirements.

Campus jobs

As an international student, while completing your studies, you are suitable to work on campus without a work permit if:

  • You are officially listed/registered as a full-time student at a public post-secondary institution/college/university/CEGEP.
  • You have a valid student permit.
  • You are registered as a full-time student at a private institution/college authorized by regional statute to permit degrees.
  • You are registered as a full-time student at a private post-secondary institution/college that works under the same rules and regulations as a public college/institution, and obtains at least half of its financing from government grants.
  • Off- Campus jobs

    As an international student, while completing your studies, you are suitable to work off-campus with a work permit if:

  • You have applied and received your work permit.
  • During regular academic sessions, you are working up to 20 hours per week and during breaks like winter and summer holidays or spring breaks, you are working full time.
  • You are registered as a full-time student at a participating publicly funded post-secondary educational institution/college or in an approved program at an eligible privately funded institution/college.

    Travel and work in Canada

    Through International Experience Canada, you are suitable to travel and work in Canada for up to 1 year (after completing your graduation) if:
